Progressive Hockey Development (PHD) and The Goalie Academy offer various clinics throughout the year to keep hockey players and goalies on their “A” game!. From pre-tryout clinics for goalies, to scoring clinics for forwards, and checking clinics for bantams, our staff is here to provide you with the very best skill development year-round. If new to Loudoun Ice Centre, please be sure to sign our waiver before signing up for clinics.

Battle & Defense Clinic

Work on principles of playing defense, one-on-one puck battles and two-on-two puck battles.
Clinic consists of one hour on-ice session
Clinic is for players 10U & 12U
$60 per student

Checking & Battle Clinic

Learn and practice taking and giving hits safely and separating player from the puck.
Work on one-on-one and two-on-two puck battles.

Defense First Clinic

Learn and practice defensive positioning and puck protection.

Learn and practice stick saves, glove and blocker saves, butterfly saves, and breakaways

Goalie Breakaway Clinic

Clinics for goalies ages 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U
Breakaways and Odd/Even Man Rushes will be covered in depth in the training session
Breakaway positioning (depth & centering), timing, gap control, retreat, fake identification and save selection will be taught and practiced
The goalies will be involved in several breakaway drills to practice the techniques they learn
$60 per student

Goalie Cognitive Clinic

Clinic for goalies ages 10U, 12U, 14U
Goalies will participate in an on-ice session that incorporate blazepods and other training devices to increase the goalies' tracking, scanning, reaction time and information processing skills.

$60 per student

Goalie Stick Skills Clinic

Clinic focuses on the goalies use of the stick to stop dump-ins and to play the puck to teammates or to clear the puck to safe areas when goalies are under pressure.
Goalies will work on poke checks for in-tight attack situations and on using the stick to stop wrap-arounds and stuff attempts, as well as using the stick to deflect centering pass attempts.
Clinic consists of one hour on-ice session
$60 per student

Player Breakaway Clinic

Clinics for players ages 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U
Players will be involved in several breakaway drills to practice various moves as well as their shooting speed and accuracy.
$60 per student

Player Face-Off & Puck Handling Clinic

Clinic for players of all ages to practice face off moves to gain puck possession how to get the puck to their teammate and develop a scoring opportunity.
Players will also work on puck handling drills to practice dexterity and control.
