ICE SKATING DIRECTOR

Immediate opening available for an Ice Skating Director

​

The Skating Director will teach children and adults during our Learn to Skate sessions on Sundays 12:00pm to 5:00pm.

​

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strong working relationship with the GM to build and grow a Learn to Skate (LTS) USA program and summer skating camps and periodic skating clinics.

  • Provide visionary leadership and supervisory skills.

  • Communicate frequently with the GM, including attending regularly scheduled meetings.

  • Keep up with the figure skating industry and revise the methodology for the best interests of the program.

  • Proactively plan and schedule upcoming sessions to maximize all opportunities for each program’s growth

  • Coach Learn to Skate sessions

  • Develop programs such as Learn to Skate camps and special ice-skating events

  • Organize classes based on level, age and skating ability following USFS recommended guidelines for coach to skater ratio.

  • Manage LTS students USA Learn to Skate memberships

  • Recruit on-ice coaches and/or volunteers, as needed

  • Answer all communication regarding LTS on-ice program content and coaching

  • Promote all Learn to Skate and skating camp programs

  • Attend public skating events and interact with customers to promote LTS and camps.

  • Attend festivals and other promotional events outside of LIC to interact with potential clients and to promote public skating, LTS, camps, etc.

  • Assist at Loudoun Ice Centre Birthday Parties, another opportunity to interact with potential clients and to promote public skating, LTS, camps, etc.

  • Train new on-ice staff with respect to on-ice program delivery and curriculum

  • Provide monthly reporting on program and performance to LICGM

  • All other duties as assigned

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION

  • General education degree and a minimum of 2 years of ice-skating coaching experience.

  • Experience in coordinating programs or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the Learn to Skate USA program

  • Intermediate knowledge of computers including, but not limited to, Word and Excel.

  • Flexible and reliable

  • Demonstrates high sense of urgency to deliver great customer service and to produce results

  • Detailed oriented and organized

  • Comfortable with working independently with little supervision and taking initiative

  • Possess a high level of integrity

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to effectively communication and present information and respond to customer, coaches, employees and LICGM.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data. Ability to prepare reports, general correspondence and list

  • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work

  • Utilize problem solving skills and analytical thinking

  • Ability to work under pressure, time constraints and deadlines.

  • Understand and practice safe work habits.

  • Ability to effectively work with groups of 4 or more children and/or adults.

• Learn to Skate USA Membership

 

Candidate is not required to possess the licensing and certification requirements prior to hiring. Licensing and certification requirements must be obtained within 3 months from date of hire.
